Precious Moments is the worlds most recognized inspirational brand since 1978. They offer religious gifts and figurines for just about any occasion.

The spring season means there will be a lot of activity in our church and so many reasons to look for the Christian gifts and decor that they offer. This also the time of the year I find the most difficult to decide on a gift.

After all, it’s Easter so what do you buy? Chocolate? That’s great for kids! Clothes? Ho-hum! Flowers? That’s a pretty good idea but they don’t last long. How about something that has a lot of meaning and will last forever? If you guessed diamonds you could be right but I was thinking more of a specail gift from Precious Moments.  Check out New Arrivals at

Christian Movies Online Or On Your TV

It’s Hard To Find Christian Movies

Where can I find Christian movies? I know, you have been looking for a good source of Christian family-friendly movies. Most of the premium services have some Christian movies or shows but not many. They also have movies that are Free with your subscription but many more that cost you extra.

My wife and I enjoy watching Hallmark movies because they are great. But, while the characters and story-lines change, there are strong similarities in each. Boy meets girl, boy tries to kiss the girl but gets interrupted at least twice, boy kisses the girl. When we watch one of these great shows we look at each other with that “ I knew it was coming” look every time a kiss is interrupted.

Of course, there are Christian movies on TV at Easter and Christmas plus a lot of general Christmas movies in November and December. But what about the rest of the year? Would you like to be able to watch a good family movie any time you want? How about your children? Would you like to have a channel they can watch and not have to worry about stumbling onto something that is not appropriate for kids?

Crossflix is the answer. With your monthly or annual subscription, you can watch Christian movies on your TV or take it with you and watch on your computer. As a matter of fact, you can watch on two different devices at the same time. This is Christian entertainment at its best. Your subscription includes Christian movies, education, and stories that your entire family can enjoy.

Miracles Everyday – What Does It Mean To Me?

Faith and God Things

When I tell you that I Believe In God Things, it means I believe in miracles. It also means I don’t have to see something to believe it. We read in Matthew 9:28 “When He had gone indoors the blind men came to him, and He asked them, Do you believe I can do this? Yes, Lord, they replied. Then He touched their eyes and said: “According to your faith let it be done to you, and their sight was restored.”

What if these men didn’t have faith? Would their sight have been restored?

Believing Is Seeing

I’m sure you have heard the saying “seeing is believing”. While that’s true most of the time, it can be a pretty ordinary life to only believe in what you can see. Life is much more exciting when “believing is seeing”. Ask any successful person you know and they will confirm this statement. God gives us free will, the power to make our own decisions and chart our own way. And yet He is always there to help us and to guide us. But there are times when He needs to step in and do something that we don’t expect. These are times when He makes something happen that no one can explain, something that only God can do. These are God Things.

Galatians 3:2 “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?”

God Is Always Present

God is present in our lives every day, there is no doubt in my mind about that! The problem is I’m not always seeking him out. Those are the times when it’s easy to question God’s presence. If I can’t see him and I can’t feel him, is He there? The answer is a resounding YES!! I believe God is always there for us but not always obvious.

Jeremiah 29:13 tells us “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”.

An Incredible Story About Miracles

Throughout my writings, there is a common thread about miracles. They are not always big events and quite often are small events or actions. These small events add up to a miraculous result. This article appeared in The Kearney Hub and exemplifies how people play a part in our lives. Unless we give thought to it, we can miss those Precious Moments when someone does something that leads to someone else doing something that leads to someone else doing something and on and on. It’s a chain of events that creates one miraculous ending. Can you recall something like that happened in your life? Something that, at first, appeared to be just a small event that turned into a “God Thing”?I’d love to read your feedback.

Be Careful What You Think About

“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life” Proverbs 4:23 NCV

What are your thoughts? I came across this verse in a daily devotional the other day and it seemed like one of those “WOW” verses.

Do your thoughts make you happy or sad? excited or nervous? successful or failure? The fact of the matter is that you can take almost any subject and think about it in a positive way or a negative way (glass half full or half empty).  What we need to understand is that positive thinking isn’t as simple as it sounds. Positive thinking is a habit that you have to focus on every day. Catch yourself during those moments when your thoughts can’t seem to go in a positive direction. What’s causing it?

It’s not so different from prayer. I never get up in the morning and tell myself “I’m not going to pray today!” But it happens. The excuses:

  1. Not the right time to pray
  2. Inconvenient
  3. I’ll pray later
  4. Not in the right mood
  5. Time went by so fast I just didn’t get the time

Fortunately, there’s the end of the day when I’m laying in bed and nothing else can interrupt me.

You might be asking yourself what’s going on here? What does one have to do with the other? When I pray first thing in the morning it tends to put me in a different mood. My thoughts become easier to control. Sure, it’s good to pray at night but by that time the day could already have been off track all day. Starting the day with prayer and asking the Lord for help and guidance right away can lead to a better start and a better finish.

Tips For Success

  1. Read The Bible every morning to start the day off strong
  2. Pray every morning and every time you can throughout the day.
    1. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us “Pray without ceasing”
  3. When you catch yourself with bad thoughts, intentionally stop yourself and pray for God’s help
  4. Don’t give up on yourself. Remember that God works in His time, not yours. But you have to be committed to accepting His miracles.

Life And Death Decisions

A Day I Will Never Forget

“You should let your wife pass away, she will never have a good quality of life and neither will you.” Talk about life and death decisions! Have you ever heard those words from your doctor? I’ll never forget the day two of my wife’s doctors said those words to me. It brings back a memory of “where were you when John Kennedy was shot?” Some of you may be too young to remember that. But that moment remains as clear in my mind as any memory could possibly be.

My wife became seriously ill on August 4th, 2014 and was in various hospitals and medical facilities. At times it seems as though anything that could go wrong did go wrong. But we had faith in the Lord and believed that, with His guidance, she would survive. I can’t tell you why but I just always had this feeling in my heart that she would recover. To me, it is just the first in a long list of God’s Miracles, what I call God Things. It just didn’t seem like it was the right time for her to be with the Lord.

The day after she was admitted to the hospital I gathered our three adult children and went into the visitors waiting room and closed the door. I was concerned that the doctors were already making comments like:

  • “We will make her comfortable”
  • “Your wife is seriously ill and less than 35% of the people with this problem live.”
  • “We’re doing all we can, but…..”

In that visitor’s room, we made a pact to make sure anyone who needed to know, knew that we were not interested in “making her comfortable”, we expected that they treat her aggressively and take the necessary actions to make her well. Then, on the third day, things got worse. She developed acute respiratory distress syndrome. Another malady with only about a 60% survival rate for an otherwise healthy person. She had to be placed in a medically induced coma for 30 days and put on a rotating bed.

As terrible as this situation was (and getting worse by the day) there were always God Things along the way. I will tell you about all of them in the posts to come, but, for now, let’s get back to the one that inspired this site.

A Life and Death Decision

During her illness, one doctor, in particular, pressured us to complete a DNR form. Neither of us has done this and probably never will. When the doctor asked me why not, I explained that I thought it is a license to kill. If something happened to my wife or me we will make that decision with God, not put it in the hands of someone who may be pressed for time, have another patient in need or be late for dinner. I know, it’s a harsh way of looking at things but If I had signed one my wife would be dead today. Please, let me be clear that there are times when these decisions need to be made and through prayer and talking with family and your doctors, you will know when that time is right.

Now, go ahead a few more months and my wife is still in critical condition but improving. This particular doctor came into my wife’s room with another doctor and their conversation seemed to me as though we were talking about someone else. I told both to stop and let’s find a private area to talk. This was not the type of conversation my wife should have been listening to. Basically, they were saying that she is still critical may not recover fully. Once in a private area, I asked what they suggested. The advice I was given was to stop my wife’s medications, take her off the ventilator and just make her comfortable (there’s that comfortable word again) with drugs. She would pass away in about 3 days. Imagine that, only 3 more days and I would have a better quality of life.

My reaction was to throw both doctors out of the room and tell them to never approach me or my children about that topic again. Also, I expected them to do everything in their power to save her and if a different decision needed to be made we would make that with the Lord, not them.

After they left I stayed in the room for a few minutes, cried, prayed, cried and prayed again. Then went back to my wife’s room.

Let The Lord In

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Having been in that hospital environment for 20 months there were numerous times that I witnessed doctors telling a family their loved ones would not survive or had very little chance. That they would “make them comfortable”. I know that is the case in the vast majority of those conversations. I know that those decisions are necessary and pray for anyone in that position. My message here is that this is a time to challenge your medical professional about all of the options. I have great respect for the doctors and nurses who give so much of their lives to save our loved ones. But, they are people just like you and me. They can make mistakes and they can rise to the challenge when you challenge them. If they don’t, fire them.

It is also the time to talk to the Lord to see if He has a message for you. Believe me, when I say, my wife had a lot of adversity, and it was God’s presence that gave us the strength to get up every morning and face another day. It was God’s guidance that gave the doctors and nurses the wisdom and knowledge to see it through. And it’s God’s strength that is with us every day.

On April 11th, 2016 my wife came home and I wouldn’t trade our “quality of life” for anything!

That’s her in the picture above, taking a walk at the reservoir in our area.

Have you ever been in this circumstance? How did you handle it? Did you feel God’s presence? Did you experience the same type of God Things that we did?
